Old testamental societies

The old testament is full of stories of failed societies. In Babylon, people set a goal, but it appears there was no leadership to lead the people and disagreement made it impossible to accomplish the goal. So leadership is important.

In Sodom and Gomorrah, there was no police. As a result of this the competent people left and the societies collapsed.

Many leaders are mentioned who did not succeed at their job. The bible sets rules. Writing rules for societies is not the same as executing them. The leaders were reminded to follow the rules. If they did not, they failed.

Leadership is important, but also difficult. The leaders need all the help they can get, even if they don’t think they need it. That is the message in the old testament.

This is also mentioned in my quran translation.
